Fun Ways to Relieve the Stress of Cabin Fever

Fun Ways to Relieve the Stress of Cabin Fever

You would think staying at home would be an opportunity to relax, get things done and enjoy the family. If you’ve been spending more time at home, cabin fever can build leading to more stress. Here are some fun ways to relieve the pressure of cabin fever.

Color

Yep, grab a coloring book and some crayons and color. There have been some complicated, detailed coloring books that have been made, but even simple coloring projects can provide relief. Coloring with a child in person or while video streaming can add to the pleasure.

Play Solitaire

If you have a deck of playing cards, get back into some solitaire to whittle away an hour or so. If you don’t have cards, you can easily find digital versions online. Competing against yourself creates less stress than competing with others.

Howl

Ever feel like you are storing things up? Maybe you need to release them audibly. Howling alone or even with your family can be oddly fun and liberating. Just make sure others in your house know what’s going on and, of course, close your windows!

Sing

If you are not comfortable howling to relieve stress, find some of the songs you used to love and crank ’em up on a speaker or headphones. Sing like no one is watching, even if you have to do it in the car. Enjoying some of your old favorites like a teenager can be refreshingly rejuvenating.

Laugh

Everybody has a movie or a standup comic who makes them laugh every time. Replay some of those favorites and enjoy them like the first time. Laughing can be incredibly uplifting.

Learn Something

If you just take 30 minutes a day learning something new, it can be incredibly valuable. How many countries are in Africa? Can you name the Scandinavian countries? Who were the last ten presidents or the last five states to be admitted to the Union? You may never be a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” but you can learn enough to impress at a local trivia contest.

Make Something

Have you ever wanted to learn to knit, put a model together or do some woodworking? Now is a terrific time to use your creative skills to build something. You may just find a lifelong hobby!

Pay it Forward

Now is an amazingly rewarding time to pay it forward. This simply means doing something nice for someone else with no expectations of gratitude or recognition. It can range from anything from paying for the small grocery order for the person in front of you to paying for the order of the person behind you in the drive-thru. You can mow the neighbor’s grass or offer to go shopping for them. It doesn’t take much and can pay big dividends.

You could also go on a mission to save money, including reviewing your insurance policies and comparing rates. Our independent insurance agents would be glad to help. Contact us about your auto, life, and homeowners insurance and let us see what we can do. Put our team to work for you and use this time to save some money!
